Kayaking
Canoeing, or kayaking as it is correctly called, is an extremely enjoyable
fun sport for all the family. There are many different types of kayak
and canoe and many different aspects of the sport to try, ranging
from the sunny afternoon's paddle on flat calm water to the challenge
and thrill of the surf and white water. Anyone contemplating taking
up the sport would be well advised to learn the basics at a reputable
school or club with fully qualified instructors in order that the
safety aspects that need to be adhered to are learnt from the outset.
Beginners
Our beginners kayak courses are designed to introduce the newcomer
to this enjoyable sport in a safe and fun way. Our courses
are different from most
canoe schools
in the area. We do follow the British Canoe Union syllabus for the 1 2 & 3
Star courses. However, rather than charging a fixed fee per star test (as
is the norm) we offer a five week course during which it is possible to
pass more
than one star test.
The course consists of:
* Four 2 hour sessions on Decoy Lake
* One half-day open-water trip - either coastal, estuary or river dependant
on ability, weather conditions and preference.
* Maximum of six pupils per course.
On completion of the five week course there will be the oppertunaty
to attend other open water trips if required. Cost dependant on size
of groups.
ON ALL OF OUR COURSES ALL EQUIPMENT IS PROVIDED
Autumn/Winter Programme
From October onwards we run introduction to white water kayaking courses.
On completion you would then be able to try one of our intermediate
white water
or surf kayak courses. |
