Canoeing/Kayaking
Canoeing and kayaking are extremely enjoyable fun sports for all the family. There are many different types of kayak and canoe and many different aspects of the sport to try, ranging from the sunny afternoon’s paddle on flat calm water to the challenge and thrill of the surf and white water. Anyone contemplating taking up the sport would be well advised to learn the basics at a reputable school or club with fully qualified instructors in order that the many safety aspects that need to be adhered to are learnt from the outset.
BeginnersOur beginners kayak and canoe courses are designed to introduce the newcomer to this enjoyable sport in a safe and fun way. Our courses are different from most canoe schools in the area. We do follow the British Canoe Union syllabus for the 1 2 & 3 Star courses. However, rather than charging a fixed fee per star test (as is the norm) we offer a five week course during which it is possible to pass more than one star test. The course consists of: * Four 2 hour sessions on Decoy Lake Autumn/Winter ProgrammeFrom October onwards we run introduction to white water kayaking courses. We also run day trips on flat water on either canel, river, estuary or at the coast, dependant upon ability and prevailing weather conditions. |
