Windsurfing
Windsurfing is a great sport which is really easy to learn if
taught in the correct way at the correct venue. We think it is so easy that we
GUARANTEE to refund your money if we can't get you up and sailing in your first
lesson. None of our competitors do the same.
Decoy Lake is an ideal venue to learn to windsurf. It is a twelve acre freshwater
lake set in beautiful country park surroundings.
Being a small relatively sheltered venue, the water is always flat, resulting
in a far more beginner friendly environment than the sea.
We are an RYA recognised centre and teach to the RYA syllabus.
We use large boards with relatively small sails which are ideal for beginners.
We currently offer the following courses:
*
Beginners' Taster Session
This is a four hour lesson during which you will learn all of the basics. You
will start off on our land based simulator before going afloat. By the end
of the lesson you will be able to sail and steer your board.
*
Improvers' session
This is a three hour session in which we take you a little further than the
basics. By the end of this sesion you will be able to tack and gybe and sail
your board wherever you choose on the lake.
*
RYA Level One Course
This lasts approximatley 8 hours and is normally taught in two four hour sessions.
At the end of your course you will be tested and will hopefully pass your RYA
level one certificate. There is a certain amount of theory covered during the
course. Your course fee includes RYA handbook and logbook in which you
can record your progress.
*
Open Water Conversion Days
These are normally held on the Teign Estuary during October. Places are open
to any students who have either completed the RYA level on course with us or
have
attended
the basic taster course together with at least one improver session on the
lake. We take a maximum of six pupils and provide ALL equipment including the
safety boat. They are a safe and fun way to make the jump to open water.
